Aubaine London - brilliant French restaurant in Mayfair Dover StreetThere is something very cool about Aubaine, despite being a chain and despite being yet another French Provencal style bistro in London Aubaine is definitely a breed of its own.  The stylish contemporary Provencal bistro, boulangerie and patisserie is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
Aubaine is a little bit like that chameleon on Geographical Channel that changes its colours. Not only due to the different locations for their outlets but also the ambience differs in each location depending on the time of the day.

My latest Aubaine -experience was in their contemporary Mayfair Restaurant, elegantly nestled in on Dover Street. In a location where you automatically expect a first class eatery, only steps away from Bond Street, Aubaine is no exception and the restaurant is definitely keeping up well with their prominent location. Here you can drop by in the morning for wonderful croissants and other viennoiseries with your coffee or tea.  You can later return for lunchtime an sample delicious and healthy salads, who doesn’t want to go healthy for lunch in this part of London just a few steps from the designer shops with their tempting collections that surely always looks the best in the lower size numbers.

In the evenings Aubaine turns into a more sophisticated dining spot serving Mediterranean inspired dishes such as Lobster Spaghetti, and Roast rack of lamb with nicoise garnish and other mouthwatering dishes. The bread here is divine, no wonder, rumour says that the chain was started by a Lebanese business man who could not find the bread that he liked when he moved from Paris to London.

I previously had the pleasure to visit the Brompton Cross restaurant at lunchtime, of course as you can expect an elegant crowd consisting of ladies who lunch and the usual Chelsea crowd. The food was simply amazing and the atmosphere is relaxed and joyful. The French Country House décor is adorable and timeless.  However; the Dover Street location is more chic and less country style rustic and therefore also Aubaine London - brilliant French restaurant in Mayfair Dover Street tablesvery suitable for cocktails and late dinners. Maybe the interior at Dover Street is also slightly more masculine and the restaurant surely the right exquisites for power lunches and discreet business dinners.  The crowd here is a mixture of shoppers, fashonistas and people from nearby businesses could it be antique dealers or hedge fund managers.  -this is Mayfair after all.

Like in every branch of Aubaine the range of delicious patisseries on offer is impressive, it is almost impossible not wanting to indulge in some sinful sweets after your meal.

A large majority of the waiters and waitresses in Aubaine are French however thankfully they are more charming and service minded than many of their colleagues on the other side of the channel. Alright, I know that the French are always given a bad name for their service but having lived in France myself for a couple of years I must admit that I ten times more prefer the French Service a la Aubaine-style than the Nicoise or Paris equivalence.

Aubaine is French for windfall or stroke of luck however surely there is more behind this successful concept than pure stroke of luck, it is clever, it is well thought through and most important everything that is served here tastes delicious.
